Mount Sinai's Nick Hurowitz is taking his talents to Albania

In the Suffolk County Stingrays inaugural season Nick Hurowitz became the second Stingray to sign with a team to climb up the professional basketball ladder. The point guard that is a Mount Sinai native will be taking his talents to Albania to play for the KB Apolonia Fier of the Albanian Basketball League. Hurowitz who towers at 6’6” and weighs 220 is a Mount Sinai 2019 alumnus and during his varsity tenure earned being named All-County, All-League, and All-Conference and was esteemed the Canty Basketball Award.
The Long Islander spent four years of service at the collegiate level playing for the Farmingdale State Rams. In his freshman year in 2019-20 Hurowitz played thirteen games and scored 33 points, made twelve field goals and eighteen total rebounds. He was a red shirt sophomore the following year but returned to the hardcourt in 2021-22 and played in 25 contests for the Rams (eighteen starts) and in 581 total minutes notched 303 points (12.1 PPG), 111 field goals made with a .455 field goal percentage, and 30 three pointers with a .366 percentage behind the arc.
Nick averaged 5.2 defensive rebounds and 6.8 total rebounds his sophomore season with 129 and 170 defensive and total rebounds respectively and had 38 assists, 21 steals, and eight blocks during his second season for Farmingdale State College. In his junior year he started and played in 27 contests averaging 24.3 minutes (655 total), 14.4 PPG (388 total points), five field goals made registering 134, notched 31 treys that season, was 89 out of 106 at the free throw line (.840%), with 142 defensive and 199 total rebounds equating to 5.3 and 7.4 on average, 45 assists (1.7 per game), 31 steals, and ten blocks as he was dignified the honor of First-Team All-Skyline Conference and twice was hallowed the title of Skyline Player of the Week during his junior campaign.
And during Nick’s senior year in 2023-24 he started and played 30 games, 28.5 minutes (855 total) and 19.1 PPG (574 total). He had 6.9 field goals made summating 206, with a .490 percentage, 2.2 three pointers heaving 65 from downtown, going 97 out of 135 at the free throw line with a .719 free throw percentage, 6.5 defensive and 8.6 total rebounds with 195 and 257 tallied respectively, 1.5 assists and 1.4 steals: 45 and 41 and eleven blocks.
Hurowitz was esteemed numerous accolades his senior year with the Rams such as NABC All-American First Team, was an NABC District 3 Player, Metropolitan Basketball Writers Association Player of the Year, Skyline Conference Player of the Year and All-Skyline Conference First Team as he was a team captain and was a 1,000-point scorer with 1,298 points in his collegiate career.
Hurowitz shined in four games for the Stingrays this season. In the first game vs. the Jersey Express he had ten total points, five rebounds, three assists, four steals, and a block. During the win over the New England Lightning Nick Hurowitz notched 27 points, five 3-pointers, seven rebounds, three assists, and a steal. He excelled in the 119-79 victory over the Burlington Thorobreds and notched fifteen with five total rebounds and three treys vs. New England on the road.
